Subject: The opposite of grounded? You probably know the feeling…

Hi Friend,

...spinning anxiety and spiraling thoughts,
...restless legs,
...wired but exhausted,
...can’t switch off...

And probably annoyed at yourself, worried you’re back here again.

Take a deep inhale and a slow exhale.

Firstly — it’s NOT that all the self-care steps you’ve been taking suddenly stopped working, or that you failed, or that you’re back at the start.

Secondly — it’s never easy to admit when things aren’t quite right. Especially when you’re the one who keeps everything running smoothly, efficiently, and let’s be real… makes it all look effortless.

But here’s the truth: our bodies keep the score.

Only 10–20% of trauma is stored in verbal memory.

Peter Levine’s work (Somatic Experiencing),
Bessel van der Kolk (The Body Keeps the Score).

The rest lives in your body. 🤯

Once you can name what’s happening, you open the door to actually healing it.

I wish I had known sooner that these were all signs of adrenal fatigue:

  • Waking up already tired, no matter how much you sleep

  • Only productive under sky-high stress

  • Dreading the day, hypervigilance, constant overwhelm

  • Overthinking everything, especially small decisions

  • PMS, irregular cycles, low libido

  • Weakened immunity — always catching colds

  • Believing asking for help meant weakness

  • Running on caffeine and cortisol until the inevitable crash

For years, I thought this “pushing through” was discipline.
I thought it was strength.

What I didn’t know: these were patterns of exhausted adrenals (signs of stress burnout) stuck in overdrive.

What changed everything: learning that the body has its own built-in system to restore balance — the kidney meridian.

Your adrenals + your kidney meridian = your grounding system.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the kidney meridian runs from the sole of your foot (K1), through your pelvis and inner thighs, up to your chest (K27).

When it’s blocked, your body locks into survival mode.

That’s why ungrounded feels like:

  • Restless anxiety, never able to switch off

  • “Productivity” that only happens under stress

  • Tight hips, weak lower back and tense jaw that never seem to let go

  • Wired and exhausted no matter how much you sleep

Quick reset: one of the simplest grounding practices is to stand barefoot in damp grass, soil, or woodland for 15–20 minutes.

But when you live in a city, or you’re juggling work and life, it’s not always possible. That’s where acupressure comes in.

When you press a kidney meridian point, you send the signal:
✨ It’s safe to slow down.
✨ It’s safe to rest.
✨ It’s safe to root back into your body.

My favorite manic Monday antidote?

The K1 point on the sole of your foot.

Press, breathe, let your body catch you.

Last Thursday’s Homebody class was like a warm walk on the beach at sunset for the adrenals.

Not in a yin-restorative way — but in an engaging, strengthening grounding way. Designed to nourish your adrenals and energize you.

👉 Want to try it? Reply REPLAY to this email, and I’ll send you the class.
(It expires Thursday after the next class replay drops, so don’t miss this one!!)

✨ Join us in HOMEBODY — live Tuesdays & Thursdays on Zoom.

👉 Or get the replays to do in your own time before the next class!

With bare feet + big exhales,
