Subject: Read this if you want to overcome the "lonely chapter"

Who you know is more important than what you know

There's a huge disadvantage of copywriting (and business in general) that few people talk about.

It's extremely lonely when you first start.

You can't relate to your current friends.

You're not successful enough to be accepted by the "successful" crowd.

As a result you end up working 10 hour days alone with nothing but your own thoughts.

This is an extremely difficult process and one that causes many copywriters to quit.

But here's the thing...

You don't have to stay in this phase for long.

In fact, by the end of the day you could already be on your way to building new connections.

Here's how.

Option 1: Message 5 accounts on X with a similar interest to you

These accounts should:

> Have a similar following

> Post content in complimentary niches

> Have an actual photo of them (Avoid anonymous accounts)

This is how I met some of my now closest friends in the copywriting space.

It's a case of trial and error.

You'll find a lot of people who are quitters.

You'll find a lot of people you don't vibe with.

You'll find a lot of people who are just looking for a quick win.

But the more people you connect with, the closer you'll be to building a network.

Option 2: Join a coaching group

Coaching groups are a great way to determine who's really serious about building a business.

So many "copywriters" on social media talk the talk but don't actually produce results.

People in coaching groups are willing to invest in their education which already puts them ahead of 95% of people you see posting content.

Most groups will have a page where you can introduce yourself.

Introduce yourself and engage with people who have done the same.

This process should be natural.

Don't go into conversations expecting something from the other person.

See who you get along with and set up a call after you've been chatting for a while.

Option 3: Join free writing groups

Let's say you want to improve your skills but don't have the money to join a coaching program just yet.

Check out free copywriting groups such as The Copywriter Club or Nothing Held Back on Facebook.

These groups are full of new and experienced copywriters who post tips and advice on how you can build your skills.

They're a great place to network though since they're not paid you'll still get quite a few time wasters.

Top Tips:

1) Message people at the same level (or slightly more experienced) as you.

People who are more experienced won't fully understand the position you're in and many won't reply as they're too used to fake conversations with people who just want free coaching.

2) Just be yourself

There's no point in pretending to be more experienced than you are or lying about results (I've seen both of these happen.)

The more authentic you are the more likely you'll build relationships with people you actually relate to.

3) Accept not everyone is on the same path as you

I speak to less than 5% of people who I initially messaged when I started my copywriting journey.

The reality is that over 90% of people who start will have quit within a year.

Find the winners and build yourself with them.

4) Build your own networking groups

Once you've started to build relationships with 3-4 people create a group chat.

Jump on calls to complete copy breakdowns, share ideas and just vent.

Running a business can be exhausting.

Don't try to do it alone.

You'll achieve more in a year with others than you will in 3 years by yourself.

Have a great week,
