There's no denying it anymore:
AI is here to revolutionising copywriting.
It's already replacing low quality copywriters and many people on LinkedIn are complaining about how it's taking their work.
But here's the thing...
Top copywriters are using AI to generate more profit than ever.
For example, I use AI for:
And much more.
While I'm far from an expert, there are a few things I wish I had known when I first started using AI.
1) Pre Programme Your AI Tool
Whether you use ChatGPT, Google AI or Claude (which I recommend for writing) your tool is only as good as you program it to be.
While prompts are useful, you can create an AI bot that matches the exact writing style you're looking for.
To achieve this ask the tool to write in a certain style.
For example: "From now on I want you to write in the style of MyProtein"
Link the website and copy 5 of the top-performing emails over so the AI has several samples to break down.
This will ensure you get the correct writing style instead of the robotic rubbish it automatically puts out.
2) Use A Step-by-Step Process
Most writers give their AI tool a prompt, decide they don't like the copy and close the app.
Instead treat prompts like a step-by-step process.
Use your initial prompt to get a draft of what you're looking for.
Find areas that need improving and highlight them to the tool with certain suggestions that better meet your requirements.
While this doesn't work 100% of the time it will give you a range of ideas to use in your writing.
3) Utilize "Table Views"
If you've used an AI tool before the amount of information it gives you can be overwhelming.
Instead of reading through 10 long paragraphs of text ask your tool to provide ideas in a "Table View."
This allows you to quickly scan through the different ideas provided and find exactly what you need.
4) Use AI To Fill In The Blanks
With AI you can get rid of your writer's block for good.
Let's say you're writing an email explaining why your brand's protein powder is better than others.
You've gone through the different benefits and USP's but can't get the right angle.
Instead of sitting at your desk staring at a screen you can type:
“Fill in the blank with XYZ” in the areas you need help.
This is an extremely easy way to create relevant ideas that complete your sentence.
To get the most out of this you can use samples of what you're looking for or add more detail for the prompt.
5) Ask For A Challenge
Most people treat AI like a yes-man.
But it can be so much more...
AI can also be used to challenge yourself.
For example you can ask it to:
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
If you combine this with good programming you can create your own "copywriting mentor" to improve your writing.
This is a huge opportunity for writers who don't have the budget for a mentor and also gives more experienced copywriters the opportunity to fine tune their writing.
Much like my earlier tip, make sure you take this all one step at a time.
Get used to interacting with your AI tool like you would a colleague.
Use it as a tool when you're stuck and to optimize your writing process.
You can save yourself hours each week and scale your learning faster than ever before if this is done correctly.
Now is the time to start utilizing AI tools.
Take action or get left behind.
Have a great week,
