Subject: What Is Your Dojo's Brand... And Does It Even Matter?

Friend,

Quick question...

Does your dojo have a clearly defined brand?

And does it even matter if you don't?

A while back I did an in-depth series on image and branding for martial art schools. In it, I explained why branding is important for school owners who want to take their school to another level.

If you missed that series, the material will be featured in my upcoming book, Martial Art School Business Growth Strategies. But honestly, is it really even necessary to define your dojo's brand?

Here's the short answer: Nope.

The reason I say this is because most consumers look at martial arts classes as a commodity. Meaning, one class is as good as another, and it's something they can get anywhere.

Now, we know this isn't true. However, what it tells us is that if you market your martial art school like most commodity services do, you'll get customers.

That means if you run regular sales and promotions and get them in front of a large number of people, you'll always have customers.

So no, you don't need to "brand" your dojo.

That being said, there are some very good reasons why you might want to consider elevating your dojo's brand and image.
