Hi there,
Many of us are praised for our ability to keep going.
We manage work, family, schedules, responsibilities, and the countless details that keep life moving. We push through fatigue, override what our bodies are telling us, and call it strength.
Sometimes pushing through is necessary.
But what happens when survival mode becomes your normal way of living?
Your stress response is designed to help you handle an immediate challenge. Cortisol and other stress hormones make energy available and prepare your body to respond.
The difficulty comes when the demands don’t end and your body has too few opportunities to return to a calmer, more restorative state.
You may notice:
Waking during the night with a racing mind
Feeling exhausted all day but suddenly alert at bedtime
Relying on caffeine, sugar, or salty foods to keep going
Feeling tired but unable to relax
Becoming more easily overwhelmed or emotionally reactive
Experiencing changes in sleep, digestion, energy, libido, or menstrual patterns
These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have a cortisol or hormonal disorder. They can have many possible causes.
But they are information.
Your body may be telling you that the current level of demand is difficult to sustain.
Supplements and healthy practices can be valuable, but we also need to look at the conditions surrounding the symptoms.
Where are you consistently overriding your limits?
What have you become so accustomed to carrying that you no longer ask whether it is all yours to hold?
You may not be able to eliminate every source of stress. But small changes still matter: eating before you become depleted, stepping outside for a few minutes, asking for help, creating a steadier bedtime, or setting one necessary boundary.
Your symptoms are not character flaws.
They may be your body’s way of asking for support.
Healing often begins when we stop asking, “How can I push through this?” and begin asking, “What has my body been trying to tell me?”
