Subject: Abundance isn't about pretending everything is wonderful 🌻

Hi Friend,

There's a lot happening in the world that can make it feel difficult to talk about things like self-care and abundance.

There's no denying that the weight of the suffering, violence, war, abuse in the world and the injustice and dehumanisation of the actions of our leaders feels heavy and out of our control.

Add our own lives with work, family, relationships, grief, bills, health, the never-ending list of things that need doing and I know Friend, sometimes taking an hour for ourselves can feel... indulgent and selfish.

Self-care here isn't turn away from the world. It’s to restore enough capacity to stay present, care, contribute, love + act where we actually have agency.

Because running ourselves into the ground isn't helping anyone either.

Being exhausted doesn't make us more compassionate.

Being completely overwhelmed doesn't give us more capacity to help.

And I hate how this one is to swallow, but ignoring our own needs doesn't make somebody else's suffering smaller.

Sometimes one of the most useful things we can do is come back to what we can do, move, influence, care for and love.

Our body, energy, time, home, environment, care.

How we care for ourselves.

How we care for the people around us.

Where we put our attention.

And what we choose to do with the energy we have.

That's what tomorrow's Equinox class is really about.

Not escaping from life.

Building the capacity to be here for it.

We're taking one hour to:

RECOGNISE GROWTH

Before racing towards the end of the year, notice what you've already navigated, learned, built + grown.

RESTORE ENERGY

A grounding + energising Meridian Yoga practice using strength, mobility, breath, Stomach + Spleen meridian-inspired movement, self-acupressure + longer holds.

REJUVENATE

I'll give you simple practices you can actually use again when autumn gets busy, energy dips + the darker days roll in.

Little ways to come back to your body, regulate, move + put something back in the cup.

Because self-care isn't about pretending everything is wonderful.

And abundance certainly isn't pretending nothing hurts.

It's remembering that difficulty isn't the only thing that's here.

There is also beauty.

Love.

Food on tables.

Bodies that move.

People helping people.

Things growing.

Things changing.

Tiny moments worth being present for.

Life is rich.

And I want us to have enough capacity to actually experience the FULLNESS of it AND enough energy to care about what happens beyond ourselves.

See you on the mat,

Heidi
