Subject: Why your customers aren't becoming repeat buyers

A lesson in human psychology

Did you have a favourite teacher in school?

Maybe you liked their teaching style.

Maybe they helped you overcome difficult topics.

Maybe they were someone you could confide in.

No matter the reason, they did one thing:

They gave you a sense of security in a confusing and ever-changing world.

For me, this was my business teacher.

He made classes interactive, made complex topics simple, and gave students personalised feedback.

And as a result, his students actually enjoyed going to class.

Now, you might be asking:

"Has Jack finally lost the plot? Why is he talking about school teachers?"

And this would be a fair question.

But here's the thing...

There's a huge similarity between great teachers and great brands.

Much like great teachers, great brands are:

> Memorable

> Have a unique style

> Build real connections

And this means customers enjoy reading their emails, blogs and social content.

Unfortunately, most brands operate like the teachers you want to forget.

They're boring, lecture to everyone and you only turn up because you're forced to.

Except this time, customers buy once and are never heard from again.

In fact, up to 80% of e-commerce customers only buy once.

A shocking figure when you consider how fast the market is growing.

Now, unless you want to join this stat you need to take a different approach to your marketing.

Focus on building relationships instead of squeezing the sale.

Cut out discounts and focus on:

> The latest industry news

> Product / internal updates

> Personalised founder messages

> Actionable tips (not repurposed blogs)

> Product breakdowns and how to use them

The more actual value you offer, the stronger the relationship you'll build.

While you might see a decline in discount sales, you'll see a huge increase in long-term profits and return customers.

If you want to survive as a business (or copywriter) in 2025 you need to do things differently.

The market has become too sophisticated for another copy-and-paste business.

Have a great week,
