This mindset shift completely changed my perception of impostor syndrome.
And I haven't looked back.
When I first started as a copywriter in 2019 I was constantly doubting myself.
> What if clients don't like my work?
> Am I really good enough to do this?
> Who am I to charge someone for my writing?
Even as I generated results, the doubt would creep in.
That was until I watched a podcast with David Perell.
In the episode he broke it down like this...
"By definition, you are an impostor.
When you're ambitious, your work is far beyond your capabilities."
But here's the thing...
So was everyone else who succeeded.
Do you think Steve Jobs knew how to run a billion dollar company when he started Apple?
Of course not.
But since everyone's an "impostor" nobody's really an impostor.
It's all in your head.
Everyone you look up to once thought of themselves as an imposter.
And everyone who looks up to you will think of themselves as an impostor.
Don't let the uncomfortable feeling hold you back.
Use it as a sign that you're on the right path.
Copy "you're an imposter but so am I" Maverick
