Subject: Don't fall into this common mindset trap...

It'll hold you back for years if you let it

Over the past 10 months, I've worked with over 15 copywriters.

Some have been great to work with, others less so.

And while many displayed strong skills, they were usually outperformed by others who had this one trait.

You see, after copywriters land their first few clients, generate their first $10k month, and get client results, many get complacent.

They class themselves as "experienced experts" who can outperform anyone.

From here, it's a race to the bottom.

They become overconfident and stop working on themselves.

Over time, they miss deadlines, overlook the small details, and ultimately fail to generate the results clients expect.

While their profile looks great, the work they deliver tells a very different story.

And after working with many of these writers, I can tell you one thing:

There's one trait that will help you outperform copywriters with years more experience than you.

The trait?

Curiosity.

If you're hungry to constantly learn, push outside of your comfort zone, and absorb information like a sponge, you'll quickly catch up to those ahead of you.

But here's the catch.

You need to learn the right things.

Most copywriters start curious, try to take on too much, and burn themselves out.

Instead, segment your learning into different "seasons."

In Q1, learn about copywriting fundamentals.

In Q2, learn about human psychology.

In Q3, learn about marketing funnels.

In Q4, learn about NLP.

During these seasons, you want to be very specific about what you learn.

If it isn't in your area, don't worry about it.

The big problem most people experience is that they spread themselves too thin, ultimately learning little about everything instead of becoming a specialist.

As soon as you learn something, apply it to your work.

I've seen writers go from complete newbies to skilled copywriters in less than a year doing this.

The key is focus without becoming complacent.

Stay hungry and let the "experienced experts" fall behind.

Have a great week,

Copy "curiousity wins" Maverick
