Too many people play it safe with their copywriting.
You submit work to a client and within 5 minutes you hear:
> We can't say this it might offend someone
> This message won't appeal to everyone reading
> We can't make this claim as 1 person questioned the 1000 studies on it
And by the time you've got the copy through the marketing manager, legal, and god forbid, HR, it's about as bland as it can be.
The next day you receive a message:
"The copy didn't convert as well as we expected."
Of course it didn't.
It was bland, boring, and sounded like every other brand.
If you want your copy to convert you need to take risks.
• Use unique angles
• Tell interesting stories
• Make bold claims (With evidence)
Don't be afraid to "not appeal to everyone."
Your market isn't everyone.
As a copywriter you need to understand who you're writing for.
What makes them curious?
What gets them excited?
What gets them to buy?
You're never appealing to everyone.
And the moment you try is the moment you attract nobody.
Instead, be bold and daring.
You want your audience to feel something every time they read your copy.
You don't want them thinking "Oh great, another email."
Push the boat out and get results, or try to fit in and become another replaceable writer.
The choice is yours.
Have a great week.
