The Reverse Curl is one of the "secret" exercises for maximizing arm size. (not a real secret but more like a neglected exercise primarily because of how much lighter you have to go on it compared to regular curls) This setup (fat grips on the bar to protect the rack and to give you a bit more friction) allows you to lean into the exercise at the bottom so you start getting tension sooner into the curl (works on Smith machine, too). It will hit your brachialis and brachioradialis HARD. Nick Nilsson P.S.
