Subject: SLOW twitch muscle fiber growth for maximum mass?

So the past few days, I've been talking about a new program from Positions of Flexion creator and former Ironman Magazine editor, Steve Holman called Anabolic Reload.

Today I wanted to give you a better idea of exactly how this programs works.

Steve's program is focused around using lighter weights with a specific set structure that causes substantial hypertrophy in your slow twitch muscle fibers (in addition to your fast twitch fibers).

 

Yep, you read that right... SLOW twitch muscle fiber growth.

If you're a classic hardgainer, you've got a LOT of slow-twitch muscle fibers...imagine being able to train in a way that allows you to grow those fibers effectively as well. It'll immediately expand your growth potential by probably 2-3 times.

In addition, the slow-twitch focused starting sets actually help to set up increased activation and growth in the fast-twitch fibers. This gives you even more bang for the buck.

Steve also incorporates his Positions of Flexion training methodology into the overall program approach.

POF (Positions of Flexion) is GENIUS stuff. I can't even tell you how much this one concept shaped my own training methods and exercise creations.

And I'll be honest, this program is not going to build tremendous amounts of strength...it's a muscle-building program through and through. You'll be using light to moderate weights...nothing particularly heavy.

It's HOW you use these weights that really does the trick.

If you've been hammering your body with heavy weight for a long period of time, your body is likely very ready for a cycle of something like this.

It'll give your nervous system and connective tissue a break and allow your body a chance to focus primarily on building muscle tissue rather than trying to recover it's other systems.

This is true bodybuilding...and if you're a guy over 30, you need work an approach like this into your training regularly. It'll help lengthen your training career, keep you from stagnating and help keep you injury-free.
