HAP’s Support for Primary Healthcare: Swiss Experts Conduct Field Visits to See Project’s Progress

On the last week of September, HAP hosted two expert visits aimed at getting more closely acquainted with and assessing the progress of the project, as well as discussing the upcoming activities and interventions of the consolidation phase. Both visits reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation between HAP, local health centres, and regional operators to ensure quality and accessible primary healthcare services for the community.

ACTIVITIES

As part of strengthening home healthcare services, the HAP project has equipped 60 Health Centres in 14 Local Units of Health Care with the necessary tools to provide higher-quality and more dignified care at home for the beneficiaries of this service.

HAP Activities for September–December 2025

From September to December 2025, HAP is implementing a series of activities aimed at strengthening primary health care, including trainings for doctors and nurses, support for home care monitoring visits, enhancement of the pedagogical component in trainer trainings, and more.

INTERVIEW

Dr Edona Tafa is a family doctor at the “Shtoj i Ri” health post in Shkodër and Director of the Rrethina Health Centre. She graduated as a general practitioner from the University of Tirana and has worked in health administration, emergency services, and primary healthcare. We talked together about the challenges of managing NCDs in primary care and the factors contributing to better treatments.

HAP Presents Home Care Achievements and Challenges at National Symposium

HAP joined the National Symposium “Expanding Home-Based Care in Albania through Primary Health Care Structures”, organised by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Albania. HAP presented its achievements and lessons learned from the piloting and scaling up of home care services since 2021, emphasising the necessary steps towards the full consolidation of this service in the country.
