HAP Closing Conference: 12 years of collaboration for a stronger Primary Health Care

The Health for All Project (HAP) will hold its Closing Conference, “Advancing Primary Health Care in Albania: 12 Years of Lessons and Perspectives for the Future,” bringing together policymakers, health professionals, institutional partners, and experts from Albania and the region to reflect on twelve years of Swiss support to Primary Health Care in Albania.

The conference date will be announced soon.

ACTIVITIES

October marked the completion of training programmes for psychologists and social workers in Primary Health Care, representing a further step towards strengthening psychosocial services and providing more integrated care that responds to patients’ needs.

A total of 371 nurses from 160 health centres have strengthened their skills in providing home-based care through cascade training sessions organised with the support of the Health for All Project (HAP). The training combined the application of Standard Nursing Procedures for home-based care with peer-training methodologies, laying the groundwork for the further establishment of Peer Groups.

HAP has successfully completed the mentorship programme on supportive monitoring of home care service implementation, contributing to strengthened monitoring capacities within the Local Units of Health Care and to improved quality of Primary Health Care services.

INTERVIEW

During the 12 years of HAP's support, Primary Health Care in Albania has undergone changes in service organisation, professional development, and patient care practices. In this interview, Dr. Melsena Leknikaj, a family doctor at Socio-Health Centre No. 8 in Tirana, shares her experience of changes in clinical practice, HAP’s contribution, and the challenges that remain for the future.
