Stepping Through A Healing Vortex
I'm having surgery this month. It's a first for me. I am scared of the physical act of 'going under' as well as the mysteries of recovery. What I understand about this procedure is that it involves an initial two-week downtime, followed by light duty for an additional six weeks.
One of the reasons I have put this off is that I wanted to see if I could 'get over it' through sheer willpower. Of course, I tried various medications, supplements, and remedies. The truth is that sometimes, no matter how healthy our lifestyle or how great the treatments are, we may still need the support of allopathic medicine. My mind is at ease with an expert doctor/surgeon who is thorough, caring, and compassionate.
The other reason is timing. It is terribly hard for me to take time out; to step away from giving and doing. I am fully engaged with life, people, and my passions. My energy thrives on activity, and I am the type of person who has a list of "To-Do's" that never ends! Clearing my schedule entirely, along with asking for help with chores, meals, driving, and errands for two whole weeks, feels like the most significant stretch I'll undertake. I'll let you know in next month's newsletter how it goes!
I have released a virtual collection of Somatic Yoga Practices that are gentle, nurturing, and perfect for this season of letting go. Purchase the bundle on Cloud Nine Yoga's Online Learning Platform, and enjoy the 50+ hours and 35 unique classes infinitely into the future!
Come to Kauai for a Somatic Yoga Certification & Meditative Arts Immersion from November 5 - 15!
If you feel inclined to rest and restore with some slow, easy healing alongside me, there is room for at least two more in this cohort. We will relish in learning and practicing embodiment techniques, nourishing meditations, and trauma-informed sequences I have created. We will dive into the Heart of The Yoga Sutras, make art, forest bathe, and take advantage of the quieter side of the island's own restful off-season atmosphere. .
Kicking it down a notch (for now),
