Rudolf Steiner teaches that initiation "is a matter of the spiritual world; it has to approach us".  He goes on to say that the process is a "series of threshold experiences".  Steiner further indicates that if human beings don't engage the process consciously, the spiritual world initiates (pun intended) it in our lives unconsciously.  Disease, parenting, mental illness, marriage, war, pandemics, racism, and more are paths of natural initiation.  Do you know anyone who is experiencing any of those things?

Forgiveness

Attraction, curiosity, indifference, hatred, and revenge are all soul experiences that arise in us involuntarily.  Interest, understanding, and forgiveness depend on our conscious will.  We tend to think of forgiveness as resolving something from the past, and while it certainly is that, it is also an opportunity to create something, not as a reaction to the past, but as a freely conceived deed for the future.
