It's summer. I hope this finds your pet and you doing well and having some summer fun.
We're past the fireworks. That is a relief for many of you and your pets. Fireworks may be pretty, but the terror and anxiety it causes in many pets is real and not a fun experience. And as the loving guardian you are, it's not a fun experience for you supporting your pet through the holiday.
The good news is fireworks are over until New Years.
Since it's still fresh in my mind, I'm offering a tip that can help calm your pets and help them feel safe in other uncomfortable situations.
And I'm combining it with the upcoming full moon in 3 days. Pets can get more animated during the full moon. For years, I could tell it was a full moon without looking because my cat, Tyler, would get extra anxious and active during that time. I would notice him starting to amp up a few days before the full moon and be really animated the night of the full moon then start tapering off after that. Somewhere along the line, I picked up on this fact. I would say to myself, it must be the full moon, go look it up and sure enough, it would be the full moon.
I have clients with pets who experience the same thing. Now that I'm more conscious and aware of that face, I track the moon cycles.
It makes sense, the moon affects the ocean and tides, why wouldn't it affect our pets and us since we are made mostly of water.
