About one week ago, we boarded the first leg of our flights coming back to Budapest. We are now settling back into our home in Budapest, unpacking and getting over jet lag. We have a long list of praises to thank God for and to share with you.
1. Praise God that all 23 of our suitcases made it to Budapest with us, we had no problems with customs, and nothing broke.
2. Our kind teammates, Bob and Nancy, had bent over backwards to take care of the house in Budapest, had cleaned it, and stocked the pantry and refrigerator with food. It was so nice to fall into beds with clean sheets after 28 hours of travel and know that there was food waiting for breakfast.
3. It was so nice to see our teammate, Joy Hill, whom we hadn't seen for 2 1/2 years, waiting for us at our home.
4. The kids did well on the three flights and two long layovers and the younger ones slept as we had prayed (which allowed us to sleep, too!). Thank you especially for your prayers for that!
5. We are overwhelmed with the very generous giving for our missionary support especially in December. Thank you for your kindness.
6. On Christmas Eve, a total stranger came up to me in the Walmart parking lot and handed me $50.
7. Two days before we left, my author's copies of my book arrived in the mail! It makes it so much more real to have the printed copy in my hand.
8. Just before we were set to return to Budapest an MRI scan revealed a mass in Matthew's head. This was quite scary, but we were so thankful that a more detailed second MRI (with "contrast" [glowing dye]) two days later showed that there was no mass present! Whether the "mass" on the first scan was caused by movement, or whether the Lord took away the mass as we had fervently prayed, we are grateful to Him for the clear report.
