Maybe we could keep one performance test, but let them choose from a list (e.g., deadlift strength test, military press strength test, OAPU/OAOLPU, snatch test). My reasoning is that many continue to train but narrow their focus to their sport: some go for powerlifting, some for martial arts, some for endurance sports, etc. Having to recertify on a regular basis every 2–3 years forces them to step away from their sport to prepare for the recertification, or they risk getting injured by pursuing different goals in conflict with each other at the same time. If they can pick the test that fits them best, endurance athletes would pick the snatch test, powerlifters the deadlift, strength-oriented gireviks the military press, endurance-oriented gireviks the snatch, and so on. |
