Security Alert

U. S. Embassy Jerusalem

January 15, 2026

Location: Israel, the West Bank and Gaza

Event: Security Alert

Given ongoing regional tensions, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem continues to reiterate standard advice to its personnel and all U.S. citizens in Israel to exercise good personal security and preparedness practices. We encourage all travelers to review our most recent Security Alerts, review any travel plans in case of disruptions, and make appropriate decisions for themselves and their families. Crises can happen unexpectedly while traveling or living abroad, and a good plan helps you think through potential scenarios and determine in advance the best course of action.

U.S. Mission posture, staffing, and operations are unchanged, and consular services continue as normal.

Actions to Take:

  • Maintain a personal security and preparedness plan.

  • Refer to our website for the latest Security Alerts . Enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. Embassy to contact you in an emergency.

  • Ensure you have a valid U.S. passport for short-notice travel; visit our website to schedule a passport appointment.

  • Be aware of your surroundings.

  • Monitor official information sources.

  • Follow the instructions of local authorities.

Regularly monitor the State Department’s website, where you can find current Travel Advisories (including the Travel Advisory for Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza ). Read the Country Information for Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza . For additional information, refer to “Traveler’s Checklist ” on the State Department’s website.
