Lost for Words

Cambridge Films take centre stage on Saturday!

HelloFriend,

TTP Screen One plays host to a TRIPLE bill of local films!

Beginning at 1 pm, we are thrilled to welcome director Sofia Bohdanowicz to present MEASURES FOR A FUNERAL, the story of forgotten violinist Kathleen Parlow and a lyrical meditation on art, memory and ambition set partly in Cambridge and Meldreth!

Immediately following MEASURES FOR A FUNERAL, you should definitely stay for the warm-hearted treat that is LOST FOR WORDS! Filmed in the beautiful city of Ely, LOST FOR WORDS tells the story of a chance encounter between Lana and Tom and what they learn when they are accidentally locked in a bookshop overnight!

If that's not enough local filmmaking talent, then you'll be pleased to hear that LOST FOR WORDS is showing with an excellent Cambridge short film, SATURDAY NIGHT BUTCH.

Originating in 1950s America, the term "Saturday Night Butch" described lesbians who dressed stereotypically feminine during the week - for work and daily life - and expressed their Butch identity only on weekends, in lesbian bars. Director Claudia Vogt’s film explores the modern relevance of this term through the stories of five queer women, highlighting the positive impact these spaces have had on their lives.

Also on Saturday night, experience the chaos behind one of the most influential films of the 20th century! Richard Linklater’s latest film NOUVELLE VAGUE is a black-and-white dramatisation of the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s debut feature, Breathless.

Filmed and edited in the distinctive style of the French New Wave, NOUVELLE VAGUE follows a sunglasses-clad Godard (Guillaume Marbeck) as he fights to realise his vision and upend cinematic convention - frustrating everyone around him in the process.

A huge thank you to our friends and media partners, Cambridge Edition, for their ongoing support and some fantastic coverage of the 44th Cambridge Film Festival!
