Your Cambridge Film Festival Update

Welcome to your monthly round-up from Cambridge Film Festival! As you may know, 2026 sees the 45th edition of CFF, and we're marking our Sapphire Anniversary with a year of special events, screenings, and celebrations, as we build up to the Festival in October.

CFF45 Big Birthday Film Quiz

This June, we're kicking off our 45th anniversary year with a fundraising night of film trivia, friendly rivalry, and good company.

The Cambridge Film Festival 45th Birthday BIG Film Quiz takes place on Thursday, 4 June 2026, at Cambridge Junction (J3), starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are £17.50 per person, or £90 for a team of six.

All proceeds will support the Film Trust’s education and community work, helping us continue to provide free screenings and learning opportunities across the city. We’d love to see you there!

Rounds will cover the full range, from silent-era classics to the latest releases. You don't need to be a film scholar; you just need to enjoy films and want a good evening.

Teams are 4–6 people. Bar open throughout. Raffle and snacks included.

On the night, we will happily match smaller groups with others if you can't fill a table.

March Events

March was a fantastic month for collaboration.

We joined forces with our friends at BDO for their spring event, which was both a wonderful event and an opportunity to raise £400, funds that will enable us to deliver one Family Film Festival screening, free of charge for all attendees.

Later in the month, we worked with our Platinum Partner, TTP, to host an event for Women4Technology, an organisation doing great work, championing women in tech.

Interested in partnering with Cambridge Film Festival? We’re always keen to collaborate, get in touch to explore opportunities.

Reel Voices

This month, our 2025 Reel Voices cohort reunited with their mentors for a focused session to reflect on the programme and look ahead to their next steps in film criticism.

Joined by ARU academics and industry professionals - including Henry Miller, Harriet Fletcher, Toby Venables, and our Programming Panel Lead and film critic Savina Petkova - participants shared their experiences following the programme and received tailored advice on pitching, networking and getting their work published.

It was inspiring to see the progress they’ve made, and we look forward to continuing to support their development through our education programme.

Reel Voices is the Cambridge Film Festival’s film criticism mentoring scheme, delivered in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.

You can still read reviews from last year’s reviewers, and if you’re interested in applying for the 2026 cohort, email us at info@cambridgefilmfestival.org.uk to be notified when applications open.

One last thing: Submissions are open.

Submissions are officially open for the 45th edition of the Cambridge Film Festival!

If you or someone you know has a film to share, we’d love to see it. Visit our FilmFreeway page for full details and submission guidelines.
