The U.S. Senate has confirmed six new labor officials, officially rebooting the federal labor policy machine and signaling a clear shift in direction.
Among the confirmations: James Murphy and Scott Mayer are now members of the National Labor Relations Board, while Crystal Carey was confirmed as NLRB General Counsel. With those votes, the NLRB regains a quorum for the first time in nearly 11 months, ending one of the longest functional shutdowns in the agency’s history.
What happens next? A lot. And fast.
Expect the Board to begin clearing a sizable backlog of cases while advancing a more employer-friendly enforcement and policy agenda. Translation: stalled cases move again, priorities reset, and long-simmering disputes finally get answers.
The Senate’s nominee package also included confirmations at the Department of Labor, with Rosario Palmieri, Anthony D’Esposito, and Henry Mack set to serve in various leadership roles.
