Finding Joy

I hope that as spring is slowly making its appearance you take the time to stop, breathe, get outside and find joy in small things (and big things!)

My kids each brought me flowers as early mother's day presents today while I was working on my computer this afternoon....and yup....one batch was tugged out of my garden at the roots, lol. The next batch apparently came from the neighbour's garden...eek! But how cute were their faces - they brought me so much joy.

I encourage you all to look at life through a lens of joy this weekend! It's always about perspective.

Welcome Christina!

Chiropractic care and Pregnancy

by Dr. Katrina, Orleans Chiropractor

“I’m pregnant!” The announcement of a baby on the way is an exciting time for the entire family, friends, and for us at Oaktree!

There is so much information on how to prepare for this life change, and at times it can be overwhelming to sift through.

One area where we have expertise, is on preparing your body for birth.

While some moms seek out chiropractic care due to low back pain, pelvic dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, or other issues that arise during pregnancy, we also want to help mothers become more familiar with the birth process, trust, and understand their bodies. In particular, we educate mothers about normal physiology, neurology, and how chiropractic supports these processes.

The Webster technique is a chiropractic protocol used to safely adjust pregnant women, correct pelvic alignment, reduce nervous system stress and prepare both mom and baby for a healthier and more comfortable delivery. Among the many factors that go into a healthy pregnancy and birth, the Webster Technique covers two essentials:

  1.  Improved uterine spacing, ligament function, and pelvic balance

  2.  A healthy nervous system to promote normal physiology, optimal growth and development

Your body is undergoing MANY physical changes and beginning early provides the greatest benefit. Sometimes we meet moms later in the pregnancy – either way, it’s never too late to get started!

We have been asked before if Chiropractic Care is safe during pregnancy. It is not only safe, but actually encouraged! Different adjusting techniques, tables, positions or pillows may be used to ensure both mom and baby are comfortable.

Contact any of our chiropractors to learn more about Chiropractic and Pregnancy, as well as care post-partum.

Do you ever wonder what is happening while you're face down on the table?

In these photos Dr. Marie Pier starts by palpating the spine , then she uses a bilateral cross pisiform hand position and lastly the carver hand position. All to this just to adjust the thoracic spine (upper back)!

Did you know that so much went into just part of an adjustment? Now you do!
