traditional Chinese medicine - yang season!
This increase in movement has resulted in people arriving with different aches and pains brought on by a change of activity level. One patient I have been treating for sleep management came for his regular treatment and asked if I can help with his plantar fasciitis. Now that his soccer season has started, he was having some severe pain that caused him to miss a couple games. After a few sessions, he was back on his feet - literally - and able to rejoin his team!
Similarly, a patient I've been seeing to assist with fertility started having shin splints after increasing her walking. During her regular acupuncture sessions, I added some points to increase blood flow to her shins, and the pain reduced significantly.
For myself, I’ve certainly noticed that my hamstrings were extremely tight from starting to run longer distances outside. Of course stretching helps, but tweaking my own acupuncture treatments improved my bodie’s ability to heal and soften faster.
This week specifically, I've seen an increase in patients coming with stiffness from clean up duty - chopping trees, raking, hauling large branches. There is certainly a collective increase in stress throughout the city, and the conversations held at the clinic so far have shown that no one has been unscathed. Even those of us that came out without any damage, have increased stress driving through town with traffic lights out, or simply witnessing the destruction of our beautiful city. Acupuncture is fantastic for calming the nervous system from a fight/flight/freeze response into a state of "rest and digest". Come in for a treatment, and leave with an increased state of calm.
As our city continues to build itself back up, we are happy to be open and able to see you Oaktree! |
