Why We Need to Talk With Our Members About Race |
The NGLA Institute provides students a space to look deeper into issues and topics facing our fraternity and sorority community. The Institute is centered on shared dialogue, personal reflection, and change-making both on campuses and nationwide. This year, NGLA Institute will include four concurrent 90-minute sessions. Students will have the choice to select presentations and dialogues around the following topics: sexual assault awareness, mental health and wellness, race relations, and fighting apathy in their organization. The Institute will conclude with students reflecting on their NGLA experience, creating an action plan with other representatives from their campus, and bringing back tools and resources to better their campus community.

NGLA Award Applications are now open! NGLA is proud to recognize chapters, councils, and communities with the Amy Vojta Impact Awards in eight different categories: academic achievement, chapter development and leadership, membership recruitment/intake, multicultural initiatives/programming, civic engagement, public relations, and risk reduction. Individuals can submit for these awards through a google form. The committee has also created an Advisor Approval online form to make approving all of the submissions coming from individual campuses easy on the campus professional. This year, the committee will be sending out this form directly to the campus professionals AFTER their students have submitted awards. Both of these forms will be able to be found on the Awards section of the NGLA website.
NGLA is also proud to recognize many individuals, both students and fraternity/sorority professionals, through five separate awards. Applications for the Josette Kaufmann Health and Wellness Award, Bonnie Wunsch NGLA Outstanding Volunteer Award, the Greek Leaders of Distinction Award, Philippi Award for campus professionals, and the Guenzler Award for volunteers or staff professionals of fraternity/sorority organizations are also able to be found on the Awards section of the NGLA website.
Award applications are due January 18, 2017 at 5:00pm EST.
The entire Awards Committee is looking forward to see what good work has been accomplished this year throughout the northeast and are looking forward to reading all of the applications and nominations. If there are any questions regarding the awards process, please do not hesitate to contact Taylor Mahanna, NGLA Awards Committee Chair and Ryan Cole, NGLA Awards Committee Assistant Chair. |
