OUR VERTIGO UPDATE

Dizziness is an altered sense of spatial orientation. True vertigo, is the sensation of self-movement or the movement of your surroundings – it's a spinning sensation. Check out these common causes.

Vestibular dysfunction is a disturbance of the body's balance system. We differentiate the condition into some of the different causes.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo ( BPPV) is probably the most common vestibular disorder and is thought to be due to debris moving into the ears semicircular canals. Great news is Physio can put you straight again.

Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD), is a common cause of long-lasting dizziness and is categorised by non-spinning dizziness, or unsteadiness, that lasts for longer than 3 months.

Tinnitus is the perception of noise or ringing in the ears, often accompanying vestibular disorders.

Heres our patient handout to help explain the one of the current theories of tinnitus.

Try these if you're having some neck pain or stiffness. Dizziness can be related to your Cervical Spine or just as a secondary response to your Vertigo

Post Concussion Sydrome from trauma to the head can include vertigo or dizziness.
