T.rex: The Greatest of All Tyrants Roars Into Flint January 20!
T.Rex: Greatest of All Tyrants, Opens January 20 at Longway Planetarium

"I was walking on the grass with my dad and I spotted a white thing. Kaiden and Jessin were over there, they ran up here and Jesse said it's a dinosaur bone. Anyway, he's a dinosaur expert. I kind of like dinosaurs. But when it comes to finding dinosaurs – a T. rex like we did today – it was actually pretty cool. I'm only eight and I spotted a dinosaur out!" ~ Liam Fisher, one of the four pre-teen kids who discovered a young T.rex in North Dakota and sparked a new film about the most famous dino of all.

T.Rex opens January 20, 2026, at Longway Planetarium in Flint. The film follows the remarkable true story of four kids who discovered a young T.rex fossil in North Dakota,  presented in dazzling animation and documentary video for a new look at this famous dino.

In collaboration with top tyrannosaur scientists, a coalition of natural history institutions, and pioneering paleo and visual effects artists, Giant Screen Films presents the most dazzling and accurate giant screen documentary ever made on this legendary predator and its carnivorous Cretaceous cousins. Narrated by Sam Neill. Recommended for ages 10+ due to some realistic dinosaur fighting animation. Tickets and information at SloanLongway.org/T-Rex or call Longway Planetarium at (810) 237-3400.

Dinosaur fans may also want to see the new exhibition at Sloan Museum of Discovery across the street from the planetarium, ICE DINOSAURS: THE LOST WORLD OF THE ALASKAN ARCTIC, which also opens January 20.

Note: Current Members of Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium will have an opportunity for a free sneak peek of both T.Rex and ICE DINOSAURS at a members-only preview on January 19, 4-7 p.m. Current members MUST reserve their time for the T.Rex preview (4 p.m., 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.) by January 14 at SloanLongway.org/Membership or by calling the Membership Coordinator at (810) 237-3457.
