Show Schedule January 2-4, 2026

Welcome to 2026, sky gazers! Start your year out by enjoying a live talk by Planetarium Manager Patrick Ross about the astronomy highlights of 2025 on Friday, January 2, 6 p.m. during First Friday's presentation, "A Year In Astronomy." It's the also last weekend to see the holiday themed laser and light shows, "Cosmic Christmas" and "Laser Holiday Magic," plus family favorites "Armstrong" and "Accidental Astronauts."

Please note that Longway Planetarium will be closed January 5-18 for building maintenance. It will re-open with a brand new schedule and a brand new show, "T.Rex: The Greatest of All Tyrants!," opening January 20.

"A Year In Astronomy" - January 2, 2026, 6 p.m.

Join Planetarium Manager, Patrick Ross, for the first First Friday of the new year as he brings you through the highlights and advancements made in the field of astronomy in 2025. Topics include updates from the James Webb Space Telescope, the first light of the Rubin Telescope, dancing aurorae, and a visiting comet from outside the Solar System. 14-day closure 1/5-18, 2026!

Longway Planetarium will be closed for building maintenance from January 5-18. When we re-open, we'll have a brand new show schedule starting January 20 which will include the new show T.Rex: The Greatest of All Tyrants!  If you're a Sloan Museum/Longway Planetarium member, a free members-only sneak peek for T.Rex (as well as Sloan Museum's new exhibit, Ice Dinosaurs) will be Monday, January 19.
