NEW Exhibit Opens Jan. 20! Plus Winter Hands-on Workshops to Help Keep Kids Engaged
Sloan Museum will be closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and will resume regular hours Friday, January 2, 2026.

NEW Traveling Exhibit, Ice Dinosaurs: The Lost World of the Alaskan Arctic, Opens Jan. 20 at Sloan Museum!
This immersive, interactive, and educational experience features groundbreaking discoveries, animatronic displays, real fossils, and more. Built around groundbreaking discoveries that challenge the traditional understanding of paleontology, ICE Dinosaurs invites visitors to learn about the unique adaptations of polar dinosaurs who lived in cold, dark, and snowy conditions year-round. Free Kids' Book Club 
Saturday, January 17, 9-9:45 a.m. at Hagerman Street gallery
Featured book: Day of the Dragon King, by Mary Pope Osborne
Meet your host Miss Jacquie by the tree house in Hagerman Street! The Book Club is free (included with General Admission to the museum). 
Ideal for kids ages 7-11. This free book club meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m. Learn more here
Historical Book Club Meetup
Saturday, January 17, 10-11 a.m. in Sloan Museum's Green Learning Lab
Featured book: Libby Prison Breakout, by Joseph Wheelan
Free (included with General Admission to the museum). Historical Book Club meetups will conclude with a special guided tour through the Sloan Museum History Gallery where club members can connect with the book's historical references through real-life museum artifacts.

Winter Hands-on Workshops

Break the "I'm bored" mantra and register your kids for a fun, hands-on workshop over the MLK Day break (January 19, 2026) and Presidents' Day (February 16, 2026) break! Pre-registration is required. Check out all the classes below, learn more hereor call our reservationist at (810) 237-3409 during business hours. For future planning, Sloan Museum and planetarium will be fully open to the public on Monday, February 16, for Presidents' Day. Educators will hold classes on MLK Day but the museum will be closed for general admission.
