Subject: Things White Belt Say, Private Students, & more...

Friend,

It's another random Friday email, and here's what I dug up for you today:

Things White Belts Say

I thought this vid was pretty funny. It's done by a BJJ instructor, but a lot of this stuff is universal to any style.

Training Private Students

When you train students one-on-one, it's amazing what they can accomplish in a short period of time. This video shows how a short period of focused training can result in a lot of progress when students train consistently.

Also, it demonstrates why you should film students when they start and every few months after. Not only will it boost your students' confidence to see how far they've come, it's also a great marketing tool for your school as well.

Amateur Bladesmithing: A Wrench Kerambit?

Karambits are all the rage in the tactical community these days, and good blades are getting more and more expensive all the time.

I'm no amateur blacksmith; in fact, I've never even tried to make a knife from scratch or from a kit. But I'm fascinated by videos showing YouTubers making their own blades from junk they have laying around. Things like lawnmower blades, saw blades, and now, wrenches.

Now I'm wondering where I can set up a homemade forge in the backyard, and whether or not Harbor Freight sells a decent belt grinder. Damn it.

Until next time,

Mike Massie
