Friend,

Happy Earth Day! I was just thinking back to when we first started celebrating Earth Day. It was 1970 if you can believe that.

My love of all things natural started at a young age. Probably because my parents were setting the example. We were trained to shut the water off while brushing our teeth, had a sizable garden and made sure anything that could be repurposed would be used again. My dad even subscribed to Mother Earth News. Which is still in print today.

To celebrate Earth Day, I have some natural tips for your family and your garden using essential oils.

  • For a quick and easy fungus suppressant, simply combine 20 drops of Melaleuca oil with water in a spray bottle and spray onto affected plants 1-2 times weekly. You’ll be amazed at how well this works.
  • Another quick tip is to spray a combination of 6 drops of Wild Orange oil and 1 cup of water onto flowers and buds to attract bees for pollination.
  • This tip is particularly timely given the uneasiness surrounding the dreaded Zika Virus. Get rid of pesky pests naturally by mixing these oils in a small spray bottle for an all-natural and effective bug repellant. Mix 10 drops each of Lemongrass, Lavender, Geranium, and Peppermint, fill the rest of the bottle with fractionated coconut oil (or any oil you have at hand—olive oil works great). Use this when you’re out camping, doing yard work, or just plain sick of those pesky bugs and need a repellant.
I hope you enjoy the warmer weather, being outdoors and celebrating your natural surroundings.

Cheers!
Kat
