Subject: ❄️ If January feels… a lot

I’m feeling it too. Here’s what I’m leaning on this week.

Hi there,

There’s a particular kind of intensity that shows up in early January.

And honestly, I feel it too. Now that the holidays are over, I notice this “hit the ground running” energy—and it can leave me feeling a bit unbalanced, because I also know winter is meant to be a time for reflection and resetting.

I also think some of it is cultural noise: the marketing everywhere (especially on social), the FOMO, the quiet comparison to other people’s “fresh starts.” Even if nothing “bad” is happening, the nervous system can still feel it.

So I just want to say this plainly:

If you’re anything like me, you might be putting pressure on yourself to do all the things you know are good for you—eat perfectly, get back into routines, be more consistent, be more motivated… all at once.

The truth is, you don’t have to fix your whole life this month. And I’ll bet you already know that.

If you’re not sure where to begin, start here:

Do one thing today that tells your body, “everything is ok.”

That might be:

❄️ 10 minutes of daylight in your eyes sometime before noon (my fav!)

❄️ warming your hands, your feet, or your belly

❄️ eating something steadying (protein + salt is surprisingly grounding)

❄️ 3 minutes of slow breathing with a longer exhale

❄️ turning something down—volume, lights, pace, commitments

If it helps, choose one of these and let it be your one anchor for the week. Same thing, on repeat. No overhaul required.

These small supports add up. That’s how regulation works.

Warmly,

Dr. Kat
