Hi Friend,
“Every big project starts somewhere sometime.”
That’s how I closed my talk in London this summer because maybe it’s time you launched your big project. But let's roll back for a moment.
I was in my early teens when I visited London for the first time. My parents—tired of dealing with a moody teenager during the family vacation—handed me a London A-Z Guide, the money for a 7-day public transport Travelcard, and let me (i.e., sent me off to) explore the city on my own.
Coming from a small town in Germany and barely speaking any English then, the trip was an adventure of a (teen's) lifetime.
Part of my daily ritual was to stop by London's Southbank Centre to refuel with a cup of Earl Grey tea and a piece of cake in the cafeteria there.
As the moderate dosage of caffeine and sugar took effect, I pondered what life would bring and what it might feel like to be on the stage of a concert in London. Fast-forward 40 years, and I am back at the Southbank Centre for the third time already, speaking from the stage of Queen Elizabeth Hall to hundreds of indie authors at the SPS Live conference this summer.
It was an exceptional experience for me, and I wanted to share the moment and presentation with you. |
