Hotspice ran as the market suggested he might and hacked up - if only they could win like that. It was a shame we couldn't get the 12s that was available for about 15 minutes or so but 8/1 about a 9/2 shot is the way to do it. Hopefully that performance marks an upturn in fortunes. I am writing this before our second selection runs but there has been a non runner and is win only, but there is a chance the top two falter - strange things can happen in small field races.

A Quick word in this horse as there are a few pointers whereby a decent run wouldn't be a surprise, but a few that make me want to leave him. He doesn't have his conditions as described, however after a win earlier in the season his form when returning within 1-7 days, over 10f, no reads 1,7,5,1,1, 1  He normally peaks at this time of year and is 3/4 under this jockey in flat handicaps, including that last win. On the downside he is now 0/11, 1 place when rated over 70. (72 here). He also hasn't won in C4 since 2010, with his record now reading 1/14, 3 places above C5. HIs most recent wins are C5 and C6. He isn't a selection but I will be interested to see how he gets on, returning to the track quickly again, at a track he has won at. There are plenty of unexposed horses in this race.
