Another big-race winner...
I've had a good run with my 'big race handicaps' since the start of Ascot and it was pleasing to flag another 25/1 >15/2 winner (25p R4) in Haydock's Old Newton Cup... from three horses of interest there was that winner, a NR and the 3rd. As hoped with the pace-maps, both of mine were able to lob along on the front, Joe Fanning taking it up down the straight, kicking at the right time and holding on - that no doubt made the difference, as it often does. Job done. I hope you had a nibble.
I do plan on attacking a feature Saturday handicap or two more consistently moving forwards (as well as the Festivals), with the aim of posting my thoughts by 6pm Friday evening when possible. As always, using my own trends and trainer pointers as a 'way in'. Given that's x3 25/1 winners from around seven such 'trends' races since Day 1 of Royal Ascot, as well as places at 9/1, 12/1, 66/1 and 18/1, I should be putting the effort in, and attacking with a more carefree and 'fresh' mind has helped. Many of you wanted a bit more of a focus on big race trends and big race previews, for all there has to be a few losers now at some point! It's been a profitable 10 weeks or so since I ditched my x7 days a week posting on the blog and overly rigid focus on staying chasers.
