New Podcast! - But not an IainAbernethy.com one!
This
is not the latest newsletter! This is just a quick update to tell you about not
the iainabernethy.com podcast! :-)
I’ll be
back with my podcast in the new-year, but a few days ago I was interviewed by
Richard Barnes for the RichardBarnes.com podcast. The interview mainly focuses
on my journey through the martial arts and how I ended up teaching for a living.
Richard is a good friend and I hope you find the interview interesting.
Those of you who have already heard this interview from Richard’s website may be
interested to know that I’ve added an introduction to this version that explains
how I “walked on water”! Please listen to the podcast and see the embedded image
to find out more :-)
Be sure to check out Richard’s other episodes and I’ll be back with my own
podcast and a proper newsletter early in the New Year!
All the best,
Iain

The blurb from Richard’s website: What I love about Iain’s story is how
he gave up the day job and did the job of his dreams. In fact from an early age
he made choices that meant he
could do the thing he enjoyed most.
Iain Abernethy has been involved in the martial arts since childhood. Iain holds
the rank of 6th Dan with the British Combat Association (one of the world’s
leading groups for close-quarter combat, self-protection and practical martial
arts), the English Karate Federation, and the British Karate Association. He is
an author, globe-trotting teacher and podcaster.
His tells of the decision making process when it came to giving up the well paid
job that would have lasted him a life. Taking calculated risks are risks worth
taking he tells.
He talks self defence, having a positive mental strength, martial arts the
things that in life that make it worth living. My favourite quote from him in
the podcast is if tomorrow he
meets St Peter at the pearly gates he can tell him that was no average life.
A rare insight to this world renowned martial artist makes great listening.
Guaranteed.

Want Iain to visit your dojo in 2013?
As you
can probably tell from the above list my diary for 2013 is filling up very
quickly! If you’d host a seminar and have me visit your dojo in the first half
of 2013, the following three dates are all that remain:
Saturday the 2nd of March
Sunday the 24th of March
Sunday the 26th of May (NOW BOOKED)
These dates will be issued on a first come, first served basis so please act
quickly if any of those dates are of interest. For more details on how to go
about hosting a seminar, please email me at
iain@iainabernethy.com
Buy books and DVDs now to get the cheapest price!
Just a quick note to let everyone know that we’ll be putting our book and DVD prices up a little in the new-year. It’s been over five years since we last increased prices. During that time production and postal costs have risen significantly. I’m very grateful to all who have supported me and hence I though this little “heads up” may be appreciated by those wanting to get a few items at the cheapest possible price: http://shop.iainabernethy.com/acatalog/shop.html
Iain's Books now on Kindle!
My
books “Mental Strength”, “Bunkai-Jutsu: The Practical Application of Karate Kata”,
“Throws for Strikers”, “Arm-Locks for All Styles” and “Karate’s Grappling
Methods” are now all available on Kindle via Amazon! Kindle books can be viewed
on kindle devices, and almost any device that has the Kindle App installed i.e.
iPhones, iPads, PCs, Macs, etc.
REAL BOOKS: The demise of many book stores, printing costs, storage costs, shipping costs, the high percentage that Amazon take, etc means that my books will probably not be reprinted when stocks run out. Printed books are becoming less and less viable so if you do like “real books”, and you’d like any of mine in that format, then it would be wise to purchase sooner rather than later: http://shop.iainabernethy.com/acatalog/Iain_Abernethy_Books.html
FUTURE BOOKS: I’ve had a few books on hold due to the difficulties faced by the publishing industry, but if Kindle does prove a popular format I will consider putting these new works out in that medium.
Thank you all for the support!
