Subject: Kata Bunkai on Twitter / New You-Tube Video on Hooks and Uppercuts

Hi All,

Apologies for the couple of “mini updates” this month. This is due to how things have panned out and lack of foresight on my part. I appreciate you patience and we’ll be back to the regular service of one titanic newsletter per month shortly!

I’ll keep it brief and the reason for this update is to quickly let you know that:

____________

1 – We have just set up a Twitter feed for those wanting their bunkai / practical martial arts updates frequent, succinct and to the point:

http://twitter.com/iainabernethy

____________

2 – Following on from the two videos added a week or so ago, another new Extreme Impact video on Hooks and Uppercuts was added to You-Tube channel and the blog yesterday:

____________

3 – I’m out of the office for the “Crossing the Pond Events” for a few days now. I’d therefore appreciate it if people could hold off sending me any personal emails until after the 23rd. Helen will be there throughout to answer any emails relating to orders etc, but it would help us a great deal if the personal emails to me could wait until after the 23rd of August. Thanks for your assistance and understanding.

There’s a little more detail below for those who want it and I’ll see you shortly for the next Newsletter and the launch of the new look website!

All the best,

Iain

1 – APPLIED KARATE / IAIN ABERNETHY ON TWITTER

As part of the forthcoming new version of the Iain Abernethy.com website, I’ve set up a Twitter account so I can add little thoughts, updates and info to the “Twitter Box” on Iain Abernethy.com 2.0 from my mobile phone while away from the computer.

The Twitter account was set up a couple of days ago! So if you’d like to receive my bunkai based tweets I can be found here:

http://twitter.com/iainabernethy

The plan is to include news, information, interesting quotations, training tips and tales from my travels on a regular basis.

The tweets can also be received in the normal way of course (online and direct to your mobile phone) and I hope a few of you will kick things off and start to follow me on Twitter.

Should be fun and I look forward to tweeting you!

2 – NEW EXTREME IMPACT VIDEO

This time it is the turn of Hooks and Uppercuts! The clip shown on the blog is a sample from Extreme Impact 7 (coming out in Sept 2010) which includes a whole host of drills for hooks and uppercuts that develop all the associated attributes needed to deliver those techniques with knockout power.

The clip includes a brief piece of technical instruction from Steve Williams on the mechanics of arching punches and a simple drill designed to develop explosiveness, power, footwork and aerobic fitness.

I hope you enjoy making use of these drills in your training and teaching:
