Hi All,

Happy New Year! Well, maybe that’s overselling it, but I think we can be confident this year will be better than the last one. Now the vaccines are rolling out at a pace, we can see normality on the horizon. The “good news” is that we have almost certainly endured this for longer than is left up ahead. We will be back to punching our friends in the face soon enough. Until then, we continue to ensure the hardship and get things lined up for when we can be unleashed back into the dojo :-)

I have a love of world mythology. They are such great stories … and the reason they are so great, and the reason they have been told for thousands of years, is because they resonate with us by telling us something about the human condition. We see part of ourselves reflected in the heroes, villains and beasts. It’s not just the ancient tales either. Popular modern tales such as Star Wars, Harry Potter and the sagas of the various superheroes also reflect things back to us. Things we intuitively know at a deeper level, but are often best expressed via storytelling

In this video I chat about how the heroes in all these tales dealt with tragedy, misfortune, suffering and loss in order to achieve greatness and do good things. These tales remind us that we can be the hero in our own story.
