Extreme Impact is Now Live!

(inc new video trailer and special offer)

Hi All,

Extreme Impact LogoThe February newsletter will be coming soon, but some news just can't wait! Established newsletter subscribers will be aware that Steve Williams and I have been working on a project called “Extreme Impact”. These programs are now available and you can watch a preview by clicking the Extreme Impact to the right or following this link: http://blog.iainabernethy.com/?p=397

Extreme Impact is a unique training system for martial artists who want to train in a way that will separate them from the crowd. The drills that form the Extreme Impact training system will develop to high levels the vital martial attributes of Speed, Focus, Fitness, Power, Impact, Aggression, Mental Resilience, Flowing Transitions, Timing, Dynamic Movement, and Confidence.

The drills in all the Extreme Impact units reflect the way Steve and I train together and such drills form a large part of my teaching in my own dojo. Whether you are a "traditionalist" like me or a "modernist" like Steve, we feel sure that you will not only reap great benefits from training in this way but you will also enjoy it (afterward if not during).

The way each unit is structured is that Steve or I explain the details of a given drill, which is then followed by Steve or I demonstrating the drill at full speed and power (all sweat, twisted facial expressions and signs of fatigue are entirely genuine!). A trailer for the first five units can be viewed on this webpage:

Online Video Trailer: http://blog.iainabernethy.com/?p=397

The first five units are now available to download:

Extreme Impact Unit 1 - Developing a Knockout Jab!
Extreme Impact Unit 2 - The Cross: The Ultimate Knockout Shot!
Extreme Impact Unit 3 - Roundhouse: The King of Kicks!
Extreme Impact Unit 4 – Front, Side and Groin Kicks: Straight Down the Line!
Extreme Impact Unit 5 - Strength & Plyometric Drills: Not for the Fainthearted!

To be taken to the webpage that will give you more details you can also follow the link below:

More Details of Extreme Impact: http://www.iainabernethy.com/videos/Extreme_Impact.asp

The download format means we don’t have to pay for DVD production and hence each unit is available at just £9.70. If you click on the “play now” link below you can watch a short trailer for the first five Extreme Impact units (more units will be released later in the year).

There is also a special launch offer that will be available until Sunday the 14th of Feb. If you buy all 5 downloads, the website will automatically reduce the price so you only pay for 4! That means you can get all five units for just £38.80 if you buy before the 14th of Feb.

I fall to the floor. I’m breathing so hard that my lungs feel like they are about to burst. I look down at my broken body. I can hear nothing but the sound of my pounding heart. I have a splitting headache as my brain screams for oxygen. My muscles are so exhausted that my body can no longer move. So it doesn’t. Mentally and physically I have nothing left. This is hell. And then it starts; like it always does: “Get up! Get a grip of yourself and get on your feet!” The inner voice. My will. My sprit. It’s the one thing that will never lie down and die. So I get to my feet and I do it all again. This is how I train. This is INTENSITY.” - Steve Williams

You can find out more below and I hope you enjoy the downloads!

I'll be back with the February newsletter soon!

All the best,

Iain

“Reality Check 2010” – Striking & Grappling seminar!

Breaking News: Steve Williams will be assisting and teaching alongside Iain at this seminar! This is therefore great opportunity to learn how to increase your striking power and how to make "Extreme Impact" a part of your training and teaching!

I am pleased to invite you to “Reality Check 2010” – Striking & Grappling seminar day on Sunday 28th February 2010 at Bristol Dojo. 11am-5pm

Combat does not adhere to any given style or martial discipline, whilst techniques may look very different on the surface; they often share the same core principles. Whether you’re standing and striking or grappling on the ground the same principles can be used, the only thing that changes is how they are applied.

“Reality Check” brings two of the most sought after UK seminar instructors together for the first time on one course covering the complete combat subject of Stand-up and Ground fighting principles:-

Iain Abernethy – 5th Dan Karate Jutsu. One of the UK’s leading exponents of applied combat, Iain has written a number of critically acclaimed books on the practical application of traditional martial arts and is well known for his work on the pragmatic use of the techniques and concepts. At Reality Check Iain will be covering striking principles from the standing position. www.iainabernethy.com

Kevin O’Hagan – 7th Dan Combat Jujutsu. Kevin has taught successfully on the UK seminar circuit for many years and is held in high regard for not only his dynamic techniques and high level of fitness, but also for his down to earth realistic teaching. Kevin has written 5 books to date on Martial Arts. He has appeared on radio and TV promoting his art and as a Self Defence Specialist and he has written for fighters magazine regularly for 8 years. His TV credits include "Muscle" a documentary following a team of Bristol Door Security shown on BBC1 and most recently he appeared on a Sky 1 TV show "Britain’s Hardest." Kevin will be teaching principles relating to ground fighting. www.kevinohagan.com

The seminar will take combat principles and show how they can be applied from a standing position with Iain and then how they can be applied on the ground with Kevin including all the throws, locks, chokes and strangles you would expect from these two gentlemen. This is an open seminar and anyone who trains in any martial art is welcome.

Whether you train Karate, Jujutsu, MMA, Thai Boxing, Tae Kwon Do or Judo, this course will help you learn common combat principles to help you develop in your chosen system. No formal training wear is required, wear what’s comfortable for you!

The cost of this full 6 hour seminar is just £30 per person and the remaining places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To book your place please send payment made out to Bristol Dojo Ltd, to 14 Marjoram Way, Village Quarter. Portishead. BS20 7JF. Details on the venue can be found here www.bristoldojo.com

Iain Abernethy & Mike Liptrot 2010 Weekend Seminar!

The 4th annual Iain Abernethy & Mike Liptrot seminar will be held over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of May 2010! As with previous weekends, attendees will be taken through a whole mix of striking, grappling and ground-work techniques, strategies and training methods. We will also be covering plenty of kata bunkai and short lectures / presentations on various aspects of training, self-protection and combat.

Mike and I always make sure each weekend seminar is unique and we are currently finalising the plan for the weekend. It is not yet possible to book your place, and I am giving you the date now so you can get it in your diary. I’ll be sure to let you know when it is possible to book your place and when further details are available.

Previous years have been very well attended and great fun! The training will again take place at the hugely impressive Kendal Judo Centre (a 2012 Pre-Olympic Training Venue). It’s a beautiful part of the world and attendees may well want to make use of the fact it is a bank holiday weekend to take a little time to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

Watch this space for more details!
