Our running term starts this Saturday, 29th January, with Monday and Wednesday groups recommencing the following week.


If you're planning on entering some fun runs this year, take a look at this video which shows you how to use the events calendar in the members' area. Great for getting in touch with other Hooked on Runners who are planning to be at your event. Your members area username is your email address. If you can't remember your password, use the forgotten password link on the login page.


If you have been in the COVID firing line over summer, you might want to take a quick look at this article on returning to running after COVID. You may need to take it a little easy in the group for a couple of weeks - so make sure you let your coach know if that's the case.


Fees for this year remain unchanged, and are due to be charged to your card on 29th January. If you need to update your card details, you can do so securely here.


COVID Guidelines for Running Groups

A reminder of what we can all do to keep our running groups as COVID free as possible


  • Stay 2m apart when you are running and when you are chatting before the session, after the session, and between efforts

  • Do not come to a session if you have any symptoms at all. For those of you who have not had it, the symptoms really can be very mild. Mine started with the slightest runny nose - I wouldn't have thought anything of it if we didn't have a positive teenager. And my voice was slightly croaky, but no sore throat.


What's On: Fun Runs in the first half of the year


I've created a Hooked on Running team where team regos are available. I'll be checking back on the fun run websites, but if you happen to see that team registrations are available before I do, let me know.


Sun Run: February 5th. A hilly run from Dee Why to Manly. 7k and 10k. Enter as part of the Hooked on Running team.


Beach2Beach:  March 27th. Plenty of time to get some training in for this event from Dee Why to Newport beach (13k), Warriewood to Newport (6k) or Mona Vale to Newport (3k). Enter the Hooked on Running team when you register.


Run Forest Run: April 3rd A trail run, starting at the bottom of Curry Rd in Forestville. 3k, 8k and 11k. The 8k would be a good introduction to trail racing.


Canberra Marathon: 10th April. An annual pilgrimage for the Doherty clan! Also half marathon, 10 and 5k events


Lindfield Run Run: May 1st. Yes, it is hilly, but it is local, and probably the best value fun run going around. A 10k, 5k and kids' 2k. Enter before April 22nd for $40, or enter the whole family for just $90. Run by Lindfield Rotary, all proceeds to to charity.


Run Shellharbour: May 1st. 5k, 10k, half and full marathon. We already have a couple of people putting their hand up for this one.


SMH Half Marathon: May 15th.


The Great Nosh: 5th June. Another trail run, this time from Lindfield oval to Seaforth Oval. 16k and 22k options.


Bay to Bay: 19th June. Woy Woy. 5k, 12k, and half marathon. A favourite of our Wednesday night group.



Master's Athletics and Athletics NSW Events


NSW Masters Championships: 11th-13th March.


There will be other track events and cross country relay events throughout the year. If you are interested in competing in these types of events, please drop me an email. It would be great to have some masters teams entered.
