Hi Friend
What’s the most money you would pay for pizza delivery?
Twenty or thirty quid? (It depends on how many people there are, I guess?).
Imagine spending over £185 million.
It better be some fantastic-tasting pizza, that’s for sure.
It’s what a man in Florida paid for pizza back in 2010 (10,000 bitcoin, that is).
He’d bought the crypto coins years before when they were worth almost nothing.
Even in the market, they were worth $41 - more than the pizza he’d ordered, yet he didn’t have cash and wanted pizza.
The story goes;
He was in his apartment and wanted pizza for himself and his daughter…
And had no money.
So he decided to message a cryptocurrency forum to ask if anyone would get him pizza.
He had a few rules.
He would pay 10,000 bitcoins for two pizzas, which could be homemade or from a delivery service. They had to be hot and ready to eat—no work involved.
Laszlo Hanyecz answered his prayers and ordered two pizzas from the local Papa John's…
And had them delivered. Receiving bitcoins for the trouble (paying $25 for them, so was already in profit.)
There are many take-home messages in this.
When the Florida man paid for his pizza with Bitcoins...
He'd already invested in bitcoins, so he knew one day they would be worth more…
Yet he took the risk.
(I’m sure he had way more bitcoins than the 10,000 he paid for the pizza. I’m sure he’s done ok out of crypto).
And as for Laszlo Hanyecz, he bought 10,000 bitcoins at a low investment of $25. So he was making a $16 profit. And knowing he would likely make a lot more at some point.
Did his investment payout instantly?
No…
The best investments rarely do.
If anyone offers you an investment saying it will. Run a mile.
But when you invest in assets that will give you a quick cash boost and long-term profits…
Whilst avoiding tactics that make you feel sleazier than a used car salesman.
Then you are on to a winner primarily when you focus on the big picture.
Best wishes.
Naomi.
