Hi Friend
Dan Bigham is something of an enigma in the cycling world.
At the tender age of 31, he’s achieved a hell of a lot.
Multiple medals at world and commonwealth championships.
The brief holder of the world hour record. As well as the current holder of the British hour record. (Ride around an indoor cycling track for an hour and see how far you can get).
With all these achievements, you would think he’d been in the cycling world since he was a young boy.
In fact, this isn’t the case.
While at university, he got involved in cycling, studying as a motorsport engineer. Which included a placement to work with the Mercedes F1 team. He quickly knew life inside F1 wasn’t for him.
I could go on to list his personal and professional achievements. There are a lot, however.
The takehome from this story about Dan is this:
Though he didn’t know much about the cycling world when he got involved…
He knew a massive amount about aerodynamics.
He exploited this knowledge to have a monstrous impact on the cycling world. Both teams and individuals.
You can do the same.
As a personal trainer and coach…
You might feel as though you don’t know enough to become the go-to person for the people you want to work with
When the truth is you already have the right amount of knowledge, you need to help more clients than you can imagine.
Being an expert means knowing more than the person you're talking to.
Ask yourself. Do you know more about getting fitter, stronger or leaner than your potential client?
My guess is yes, you do.
This puts you in the prime position to help them.
Remember this the next time you don’t think you have the knowledge to be the expert clients need.
Best wishes,
Naomi.
