 Some facts about PI:

  • Pi is a greek letter
  • Pi is a constant number-- for all circles of any size, Pi will be the same
  • Pi is an irrational number
  • Pi is infinite
  • Pi never repeats
  • Pi is approximately 3.1415926535897932384626433832795......
  • Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to it's diameter.
  • Pi is often used in solving geometry problems, for example:
The area of a circle:  

A = πr2

The volume of a cylinder:

V = πr2h

  • Pi is essential to engineering, architecture, and construction.
  • Pi is used by NASA scientists and engineers to explore other planets.   
  • Pi day is physicist Albert Einstein's birthday.
