Babel: The Tower is Nearly Complete
At the end of April, Pure Life Ministries joyfully held its 21st Annual Conference, and as always, it was most memorable! For nearly 15 years, Grace Fellowship Church in Florence, KY has been the familiar location for the conference, but recent years have shown a steady increase in our registration numbers necessitating a larger venue. So, after our 2019 conference, the staff prayed for an answer and the Lord’s solution came in Biblical proportions. Literally.
Two years in the making, we were finally able to hold our conference in the Answers Center auditorium located on the grounds of the country’s largest timber structure - the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY, just 10 miles away from our Residential Program campus! What a blessing that was! With the aid of Ark staff, this year’s conference went as smooth as ever! There was ample time to fellowship with old friends and many opportunities to make new ones as program graduates, newcomers, and staff gathered from all over the country to hear a word from the Lord.
This year’s main speakers were Steve Gallagher, Dustin Renz, Dave Leopold, and Glenn Meldrum. Each delivered challenging messages based on this year’s theme, Babel: The Tower is Nearly Complete. The call was clear; it’s time to leave Babel and develop our spiritual lives in the Lord, NOW. With the tower nearing completion, the time of the Lord’s visitation is at hand, and His people need to run into Him. On Saturday morning, the men and women attended panel discussions delving into the topic “Overcoming: Going Through in the Presence of the Lord.”
Husbands, wives, and singles were given answers to their burning questions regarding living in victory over sexual sin in their daily lives while battling our ever-darkening culture. A new addition to this year’s schedule was a well-attended marriage pre-conference, held at Mt. Olivet Christian Church. Pastor Jeff Colón and his wife Rose headlined the main sessions while Pastor Ed Buch and Overcomers-At-Home (OCAH) counselors Shawn & Susan Smith joined them for a marriage Q&A session.
The weekend ended with our Alumni & Friends Benefit Banquet. The dinner program included a featurette giving center stage to the Lord’s presence being the dominating factor in the success of the ministry for the past 35 years. Then, all were treated to the stellar performance of the Residential Program Student Choir. A financial goal was set for the evening, and the Lord provided ABUNDANTLY more than what we asked for. Our God is amazing. Every year we are allowed to host this event, we are blown away by His presence and provision. And Lord willing, we’ll be able to say the same in 2022!

| At the root of all sin is the self-life. Out of the self-life flows our attitudes, desires, thoughts, ambitions and actions. The Bible calls it "the flesh." It is the fallen part of us that Jesus died to give us victory over. The self-life is constantly striving to control us and to keep us under its dominion.
Some of its manifestations are obviously sinful such as adultery, murder and rebellion. But others are not so obvious such as self-effort, self-determination, self-pity, and even self-love. In this video Pastor Steve Gallagher helps us understand that to gain real freedom from sin, we must uproot the self-life.
