I was recently contacted by a faithful supporter of Pure Life Ministries who suggested that we initiate a “Matching Gift” campaign. He said, “… I do believe in you and your ministry and if it’s not too small an amount I’d like to contribute $20,000 to a ‘Matching Gift’ campaign.”
He explained his reasoning behind this generous offer: “I almost always take advantage of those [campaigns] for two reasons:
1) I’ve magnified my gift.
2) I never want my ministry not to receive the full benefit of a donor’s potential gift.
With this offer in hand, I asked Pastor Ed Buch what our greatest need is right now. Without hesitation he said that we really need to replace the Toyota Sienna van we use for the students.
Don’t get me wrong. The Sienna has served us well—picking up students from the airport or bus terminal, ushering them to job interviews, doctor appointments and so on. But it is approaching 200,000 miles and is requiring an ever-increasing number of repairs.
A new van would cost around $40,000, which would make it a perfect fit for this “Matching Gift” campaign our friend has suggested.
So… would you consider giving to this need? Every dollar you give will, in essence, be doubled. This is such a great opportunity for the Residential Program to take a big step forward.
But, of course, we are extremely grateful for all of the support you have already extended to this ministry. So, we thank you in advance, whether you give to this particular need or not.
