The date is no coincidence; it marks the anniversary of the very first airing of Star Trek: The Original Series back in 1966. That historic moment introduced audiences to Captain Kirk, Mr Spock, and the Starship Enterprise 🛸, launching a journey through the stars that still resonates nearly six decades later.


Star Trek fans, often called Trekkies, take their passion very seriously. They find joy, creativity, and community in the Star Trek universe 🌌✨, and they see it as more than just a television series 📺. For many, it has become a way of life, a constant reminder that hope, discovery, and unity can shape a brighter tomorrow.


What makes Star Trek special is its powerful message of diversity 🌈 and inclusion. Gene Roddenberry’s vision was bold for its time, showing a future where people of all backgrounds and even species 👽 could work together. Star Trek Day is therefore more than just a celebration of starships 🚀 and space adventures 🌠. It is a reminder of the values the franchise has always promoted unity 🤝, curiosity, and progress.

The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) informs individual taxpayers that the facilities for the submission of Income Tax Returns and for payment of tax, if any, are available on MRA Website: www.mra.mu.


Individual Taxpayers are informed that they should file their Individual Income Tax Returns and effect payment, if any, by Wednesday 15 October 2025.

This eclipse will be visible across Mauritius, Rodrigues, St Brandon, and Agalega. To make the most of this rare sight, stargazing sessions are being organised throughout the island. 🌌

9. Fans celebrate in many ways: from watch parties 📺🍿 and cosplay 🎭👽 to conventions 🌍🎉. In Germany, Trekkies gather at FedCon, one of the world’s biggest Star Trek events 🇩🇪, with panels 🎤, workshops 🛠️, and themed fun ✨.

THE VULCAN CHALLENGE

No Star Trek Day would be complete without the iconic Vulcan salute! This hand gesture is one of the most iconic symbols of Star Trek, often paired with the phrase “Live long and prosper.” But did you know where it came from? 🤔 Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock, introduced the Vulcan salute in a 1967 episode of Star Trek: The Original Series. He wanted Vulcans to have a unique greeting , something different from a human handshake or bow.


The gesture, formed by splitting the fingers into a “V,” represents the Hebrew letter Shin and quickly became a global symbol of peace, unity, and Star Trek spirit 🚀. When the episode Amok Time aired, the salute became instantly famous 🚀. Fans everywhere copied the gesture.
