Why I needed to stop.
Hey Friend,

In my usual spirit of keeping it real, the last couple of months have been pretty rough for me which is why you haven't seen me in your inbox for a few weeks.

First there was the disappointment of watching my dream and much longed for holiday slipping away as the Corona virus slowly shut down country after country.

I was so looking forward to just stopping!

No cooking, no cleaning, no work, no emails, just time to be out on the ocean, reading, relaxing, exploring new places I had never been before on a holiday that I never dreamed I would be well enough to do again.

And while it's "first world problems", I was tired and I wanted to get away from it all and have no responsibility but deciding which pool I was going to sit beside to read my book.

So I took a 3 day "staycation" at home with no social media, no work and lots of rest and me time.

Then a week later, I entered the worst Celiac flare of my life so far. Its been truly horrible and it's still not quite ended yet.

I have been in constant gut pain day and night (especially at night) so not much sleep, my gut is shut down and generally feeling miserable.

But, I had got myself into this really nice routine.

I was blogging regularly, had a day for my podcast recording and production, my regular day for my Live Time on Facebook, everything was ticking along and it felt so good!

It's been a long time since I could really get myself into any sort of regular routine because you know
Friend that energy, motivation and mood are just so unpredictable with chronic illness.

So I reached a point where I could keep pushing through or choose to put myself first and it's a process I need to negotiate with myself every time.

In episode 6 of the Emotional Autoimmunity podcast, I talk about why it's so hard to put ourselves first, especially with chronic illness, what fear triggers always come up for me and the mind shift skills I use to make the best choices for my health and happiness.
