When someone you love has chronic illness
Hi Friend,

Greetings from overcast and Autumnal Melbourne. Autumn is my favorite season of the year and I so love seeing the cloudy skies, the crisper air, the leaves starting to turn into reds, oranges and gold and getting back into my cosy clothes after the heat and humidity of Summer.

Weather and changes in seasons can have such an impact on our symptoms and moods, can't they. Personally I find that I generally do better and feel a bit more energy in the cooler months, even to the point of needing less insulin.

It's amazing how many different factors can affect how we feel and function when living with chronic illness.

I've just published a new podcast and I've been wanting to do this one for a long time as I've seen first hand in my work just how much chronic illness can affect our relationships.

The most satisfying relationship transformations I've seen are always the ones where I get to work with couples so I can help them both adapt in very different ways to the changes chronic illness bring.

It's so much better when you can face the challenges together but that's not always the case because of the lack of education and understanding of the realities of chronic illness.

So if you are feeling a bit alone or unsupported by family or friends Friend, then this podcast can definitely help, as long as they are willing to listen.

New Podcast: When someone you love has chronic illness.

One of biggest emotional challenges of living with chronic illness is the impacts it can have on your relationships with others.

So many of us living with chronic illness often feel that the people closest to us either don’t understand, believe or support what we are going through and how much it has changes our lives and bodies.

Friends can start to fall away, partners can struggle to adapt or know what to do and this only increases feelings of isolation and loneliness because the realities of ongoing, often progressive chronic illness is so rarely talked about or understood.

Partners, friends and family can also feel helpless, lost and overwhelmed, not knowing what to do and feeling unsupported themselves.

Like any major life challenge, the experience of chronic illness can bring us closer together or drive us even further apart.

In this podcast, I share practical ways that you can offer help and support and gain some understanding of the issues they are facing if someone you love has chronic illness.

Have a listen and if you find it helpful, please share it with anyone you think it could help.

Let’s help educate and spread the word of the practical realities and emotional issues that becoming chronically ill bring from those who know it best.

It is only by sharing our stories and experiences that we can help someone else know that they are not alone when it comes to chronic illness.
