For years I believed in being a specialist.

It's one of the reasons I chose to become a copywriter.

But here's the thing...

The market is seeing a huge change in demand.

The introduction of AI, cheaper copywriting services and a growing need for skill stacked individuals is making copywriting more competitive than ever.

And in all honesty, those starting from zero right now are going to struggle.

It's a hard pill to swallow.

But here's the thing...

Copywriting alone isn't as valuable as it once was.

I'm not saying you shouldn't learn copywriting.

In fact, I think it's the number one skill you should learn to build an online business.

But don't rely on copywriting alone.

Here's what you need to do instead...

Start skill stacking.

Instead of relying solely on copywriting skills to stand out, start to build complementary skills that support it.

For example: copywriting, list management and design.

If you're in the top 10% in these skills very few people can compete with you.

In fact, you can charge clients less than agencies with a larger team but unlike agencies you can enjoy higher margins.

This means the client saves, you get paid more and you're in control of the client's entire list instead of just the copy.

Another example of skill stacking is: copywriting, social media ads and funnel building.

Instead of just writing the copy for a sales page you can:

> Write social media ads

> Link these ads to a sales page

> Convert customers here or build a list

Your understanding of social media and funnels makes you significantly more valuable than just being a copywriter.

As AI becomes more advanced I can see skill stacking becoming more important than ever.

While I don't think it will eliminate copywriters altogether, those who fail to evolve are going to be completely replaced.

So what can you do from here?

Start to diversify your skills.

Learn a bit of design.

Learn how to build funnels.

Learn how to manage email lists.

If you start today you'll have a huge advantage over copywriters in six months.
